"For the first time on CD is the classic single from the duo known as 1st Down. For everyone that does not know, 1st Down is/was a duo structured like Gang Starr with Phat Kat on the vocals and Jay Dee on the production. 1st Down was signed to Pay Day Records back in 1995, but this 12" vinyl was their only release. Now it's available again with a few added 1st Down bonus tracks that are unreleased and unheard until now. All production on the CD from Jay Dee aka J Dilla. LIMITED EDITION of 2000 copies. Once they are all sold, they are gone."

On Summer EP, Paper departs from the moodier moments of Made Like Us (though his deft melancholic atmospherics surface on “Gold Pass”) in favor of a more up-tempo, sunnier sound palette. The banjo, accordion, and whistling on “The Fortunate Wayfarer” make it an addictive single, a track that melds Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros with James Blake.

In the middle of the 1990s, Cut Killer had already become a well-respected and active DJ. He adapted and consolidated New York hip-hop in France through many of his mix tapes, mixing the latest releases and freestyles of French rap, they became favorites and collectors' items. His dynamic mixes, his smartness to catch the best 12 inches before anyone, and his flair to find local rappers made his mix-tapes important. The big number of top brass of the second generation of French rap went through this: Sages Poètes de la Rue, Lunatic, 113 and many others. The Hip Hop Soul Party series, composed of double mixed CDs, started in 1996 at MCA’s. From the second volume on, exclusive tracks began to appear from Fabe, Busta Flex, among others, with one CD dedicated to hip-hop, the other to R&B. In volume three, a CD was dedicated to international hip-hop, the other to French hip-hop.

SCENE MOB:

Jonathan Toth from Hoth founded The Frozen Food Section in 1999. His vision was to form a record label that would create the most precedent setting, cutting-edge music of his time. His first release, "Brainwashing: The Art of Hiphopera" (by J-Toth) came out in 2002 as a very underground sounding hip hop space oddysey written within a moral tale of Good vs. evil. It was well received on the College Music Journal charts across the U.S. and Canada, landing spots on Top 10 lists from Pamona, CA to Raleigh, NC. All reviews were positive (check the website under "reviews" for more details).

Since then, The Frozen Food Section has released Serengeti (alternative hip hop), Tucker Booth (rap/rock), Rob Getzschman (indie rock) and the latest, "The Lovecycle" his follow-up album, where he got to collaborate with MF DOOM on the underground smash "Ghostwhirl" (reviewed by URB Magazine and given 5 out of 5 stars). Jonathan is now finding major distribution all over the world for this music, and seeking more.
