SCENE MOB:

The album "Subway Space" by Mr. Käfer & DDob comes with laid-back drums, mellow vibes and chilled guitar licks. The two got to know each other in Cologne, where the Austrian Mr. Käfer completed an internship at the music label MPM Records. Both got along very well from the start and worked together on an instrumental album, which they finished shortly afterwards in Austria.

Varying styles from lofi to boombap, the duo brings the right vibe for the upcoming spring season. The spacious and moody instrumental album offers a lot to cover, from surreal moods, that you can hear on "Enter the Void", right up to the moving tunes of "Planetary Nebulae". Listening to "Railways" one overcomes the slightly oppressive feeling of stuffy air that you know from dusty subway tunnels, while "Spherical Colors" lets you flow through musical ionosphere. On "Kamakura" you can hear a great collaboration between the duo and the producer Spaze Windu, which is complemented by gentle vocals from Yana and offers a great combination with the producer's flipped vocal quotes. The track "One For", that also represents the album's single, picks up the vibe and features a couple of scratches from Kiel's local A¢AP Creepy.

He is seen on the #RAP50 countdown with last week's Spotlight, Akrobatik, on their collaborative track “Migrate” featuring M-Dot. LX Beats took the time to sit down to talk about his experience in producing and working with Akrobatik, and making their album Antihero together. They make one dope collaboration and with his beats, Akrobatik couldn't pass up working someone who is putting in as much work as LX Beats is.

Wilbur Bass, better known as Blaq Poet is an American rapper from

Queensbridge, New York, United States.Blaq Poet was first heard

in the track "Beat You Down" from the Bridge Wars during 1987, a

diss song towards KRS-One and Boogie Down Productions. At that

time Poet was at least 17 years old, as stated in a 2009 radio

interview. During 1991, Poet and DJ Hot Day made a duo called PHD

and released their debut album, Without Warning on Tuff CityRecords.

They released after that album several 12 inch singles

and an EP until 1996 when they parted ways due to being unable to

find another record label. Poet went on to team up with KL,

Hostyle and Solo, creating the group Screwball. They released two

albums and a compilation together before Poet went solo with the

street album Rewind: Deja Screw, released 2006. The album

featured production from DJ Premier amongst others. Poet later on

signed to DJ Premier's Year Round Record label and released his

second album, Tha Blaqprint in 2009 with the majority production

coming from DJ Premier and guest appearances from the likes of

Lil' Fame and N.O.R.E. as well as labelmates NYGz and Nick Javas.

SCENE MOB:

Like many of their 1990s hardcore hip-hop contemporaries, Mobb Deep prided themselves on playing fast and loose with firearms (Prodigy’s autobiography features a disturbingly blase anecdote from back in the day about Havoc accidentally shooting a Def Jam A&R). Luck as much as strength may explain why they’ve outlived contemporaries (and enemies) such as Tupac Shakur, and survived to reminisce about once standing tall next to Wu Tang Clan and Nas among the hottest properties in east coast rap. But don’t doubt Havoc and Prodigy’s resilience – they even managed to patch things up after a recent bizarre feud when the former accused the latter via Twitter of engaging in homosexual acts while in prison on, yes, a weapons charge.
